How Do You Apply Southwest Travel Funds?

Southwest Travel Funds can be used to pay for future travel on Southwest Airlines. If you have a credit balance on your account, you can use those funds to pay for your next flight. Here’s how.

How to check your Travel Funds balance

If you have Southwest Travel Funds, you can check your balance online or by calling Customer Service. To check your balance online, log in to your account on the Southwest website and click on the “Travel Funds” link. Your balance will be displayed in the top right hand corner of the screen. If you need help, call Customer Service at 1-800-I-FLY-SWA (1-800-435-9792).

How to use your Travel Funds

If you have travel funds from a canceled or changed flight, you can use them to book a new flight. If your travel funds are about to expire, you can extend the expiration date by calling customer service. You may also be able to use your travel funds to upgrade your seat or buy social distancing packages.

How to redeem your Travel Funds

If your future travel plans have been impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and you have Southwest Travel Funds to use, we want to help make the process as easy as possible for you.

Here are a few things you should know before redeeming your Travel Funds:
-Your Travel Funds will automatically be applied to your next qualifying purchase in the form of a credit.
-You can check the balance of your Travel Funds by logging in to your account on Southwest.com.
-If you need help redeeming your Travel Funds, our Customer Service Representatives will be happy to assist you.

How to earn Travel Funds

To earn Travel Funds, you must be logged in to your Rapid Rewards account. Then, click on the “Earn Points” tab and select “Travel Funds.” Click on the “Buy Travel Funds” button and enter the amount of points you wish to convert. The minimum amount of points you can convert is 1,000.

How to donate your Travel Funds

If you have Travel Funds that you would like to donate to a family in need, please follow the instructions below:

1. Go to www.southwest.com/donate and log in to your Rapid Rewards account.
2. Enter the amount of Travel Funds you would like to donate, up to $5,000 per transaction.
3. Select the Donate button.
4. Enter the email address of the beneficiary (the person who will receive the Travel Funds). This can be yourself, a friend, or a family member in need. The beneficiary must have a Rapid Rewards account in order to redeem the Travel Funds.
5. Review your donation details and select the Submit button.
6. A confirmation email will be sent immediately to both the donor and beneficiary indicating that the Travel Funds have been successfully donated.

How to gift your Travel Funds

If you have Southwest travel funds that you would like to give to someone else, you can do so by calling Customer Service at 1-800-I-FLY-SWA (1-800-435-9792). We’ll be happy to help you apply the funds to the account of your choice.

How to combine Travel Funds

If you have received travel funds from Southwest, you can combine them with other forms of payment to book your flight. To do so, log in to your account on the Southwest website and click on the “Book a Flight” tab. Then, enter your travel information and select “Pay with travel funds” as your payment method. You will be prompted to enter the amount of travel funds you would like to use towards your purchase.

How to transfer your Travel Funds

If you have Travel Funds available on your account, you can use them to pay for all or part of a new reservation. You can also transfer your Travel Funds to another person—great for gift giving! Here’s how:

Log in to your Southwest Airlines account.
Click on the Travels Funds tab.
Click on the Transfer Travel Funds button.
Enter the amount you’d like to transfer in the space provided.
In the To box, enter the account number or Customer Rapport ID of the person you’d like to transfer your Travel Funds to. If you don’t know this information, you can enter the recipient’s email address instead.
Click Continue to complete your transfer.

How to cancel your Travel Funds

If you have Travel Funds available, you can apply them to new bookings by calling 1-800-435-9792. Our customer relations team will be happy to assist you.

Please note, Travel Funds are non-transferable and have no cash value. If your plans change and you need to cancel your booking, your Travel Funds will be placed back in your account and can be used for future travel.
